APRIL 22, 2014-Cleveland, OH-
In recognition of Earth Day today, select Panera Bread Cafes will be offering used coffee grounds to customers. Coffee grounds are a rich soil nutrient which are often used in gardens or compost bins.
In the Cleveland/ Akron/Canton area, the Middleburg Heights Café (18324 E Bagley Rd. Middleburg Hts., Oh 44130) as well the Graham Rd. café in Stow (1059 Graham Rd. Stow, OH 44224) will be participating in this initiative.
“We welcome the opportunity to show support to our community and environment. We are happy to be able to make a contribution in honor of Earth Day,” said Sam Covelli, Owner-Operator, Covelli Enterprises.
Coffee grounds can be used as mulch for acid-loving plants. Coffee grounds are a natural way to add acidity and nutrients to the soil. They can also be sprinkled around areas of ant infestation to deter them.
If you are a customer and are interested in receiving some of these used coffee grounds, please speak with the Environmental Captain on April 22 at the cafe for assistance.
